In 2009 I wrote about fixing problems with the performance dashboard for SQL Server 2005. The SQL Server 2005 performance dashboard is a great way to troubleshoot your SQL Servers, when SQL Server 2008 was introduced the performance dashboard didn’t word on it anymore and it was recommended to use the new activity monitor or the MDW (management data warehouse) also a pretty cool tool, but out of the scope of this blog, if you want to know more about the MDW, please check http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd939169(v=sql.100).aspx. Going back to the title of this post, if you are interested in using the performance dashboard on SQL Server 2008 or even SQL 2008 R2, I got great news a few day ago my friend Stuart Rutherford told me that there is a fix for the performance dashboard, he even provide me with this link http://blogs.technet.com/b/rob/archive/2009/02/18/performance-dashboard-reports-for-sql-server-2008.aspx. I also found two other links related to the subject, please see below:
http://blogs.msdn.com/b/vascov/archive/2008/09/30/using-performance-dashboard-with-sql-server-2008.aspx and http://sqlserverfinebuild.codeplex.com/wikipage?title=Install%20SQL%20Performance%20Dashboard
The last link also mentions that there is a performance dashboard for SQL Server 2012 and it provides the link to download it. Enjoy!
